“Every year since 2005, the Village of Maybrook Board of Trustees has selected a resident in the village who goes above and beyond as a volunteer. There were several candidates to choose from this year and unfortunately the Village Board is faced with narrowing it done to one. This year’s recipient has lived in the Village of Maybrook for the past 30 years along with her husband Ed and two sons Andrew and Peter. She has been an employee with Stewarts Shops right here in Maybrook for 23 years. She’s been the manager of the store for many of those years and greets many residents who are coming and going on a daily basis. I have been the Mayor of the Village of Maybrook for the past 10 years and every one of those years she has offered her services at Stewarts Shops for our village events from movie nights to free ice cream cone certificates for the kids. Some may say, well that’s her job but it goes beyond that statement. The extra effort comes from her pride of her work ethic and her pride of this village. To me and this village board, that is the type of person who is deserving of this type of award. It is my honor to announce, present and congratulate the Joseph E. Dineen Award recipient for 2017, to Sue Dunlavey”.
